Amid tensions at the Gaza border, a young Chabad couple decided to celebrate their traditional Sheva Brochos in an unusual setting: at an Israeli military base. This initiative, organized with the support of the Ezer Lachayal organization, aimed to provide a moment of joy and encouragement to IDF soldiers involved in security operations.
The young groom explained the motivation behind choosing such a unique location for their celebration: “We wanted to express our gratitude to those who protect Am Yisroel with true mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice), risking their lives daily.” The couple, accompanied by Ezer Lachayal volunteers, shared a festive meal with the soldiers, bringing warmth and support during a challenging time.
A particularly significant moment was the speech by an IDF commander, who expressed deep respect for Chabad and shared a dvar Torah related to the weekly Torah portion, Lech Lecha. “You Chabadniks are here to strengthen us,” said the commander, “and I encourage you to continue your mission of shlichus, just as Avraham responded to the call of Lech Lecha.”
During the event, several soldiers made positive resolutions (hachlatos tovos), demonstrating how moments of joy can become an opportunity to strengthen the spirituality and resolve of those on the front lines.
This Sheva Brochos celebration reflects the deep connection between personal simcha and support for Eretz Yisroel. In recent years, Chabad Italia has continued to expand its commitment to strengthening ties with the Land of Israel, bringing the Rebbe's message to local communities and supporting initiatives that unite spirituality and solidarity.
Chabad Italia will continue to closely follow these stories of dedication and resilience that inspire and reinforce the sense of belonging among our people.
