On the occasion of the fourth round of the Europa League, which saw Maccabi Tel-Aviv face Ajax, the historic Dam Square in Amsterdam was transformed into a place of celebration and spiritual unity. Hundreds of Israeli and Jewish fans from all over Europe gathered to put on their Tefillin, thanks to an initiative led by the local shaliach, Rav Pinkowitz.
The vibrant atmosphere of the football event was enriched by the warm welcome of the Chabad community, which provided support and assistance to Jewish fans traveling from abroad. After participating in the moving public prayer moment, many attendees were helped to find safe and comfortable arrangements for spending this Shabbat. From organizing shuttle buses to the airport to booking hotels for the fans, the shluchim ensured that no one had to forgo their Jewish traditions, even far from home.
Once again, the Chabad community was a beacon of light for many fans, who were able to experience something unique and deeply meaningful, combining their passion for football with their faith and Jewish identity. The initiative demonstrated that even within a sports competition, it is possible to promote values of unity, hospitality, and devotion.
