During the week of commemorations for Holocaust Remembrance Day, Slovenian radio broadcaster RTV held a phone interview with Ariel Haddad, the Chief Rabbi of Slovenia and coordinator of the "Carlo and Vera Wagner" Museum of the Jewish Community in Trieste, a place aimed at reflecting on the history of Jewish presence in Trieste. This conversation intended to provide a deep look not only at the millennia-old past but, more importantly, at the present that surrounds us. A present marked by a worrying regression of language and thought, as well as a growing phenomenon of cultural antisemitism. This dialogue is an invitation to explore the Jewish roots that permeate our contemporary society, offering valuable and current insights.
Judaism, with its millennia-old history, stands as a beacon in the stormy sea of contemporary challenges. Through understanding its rich tradition and teachings, new perspectives and approaches to the complexities of the modern world can be discovered.
Ultimately, this conversation demonstrated that Judaism is not only a rich source of historical knowledge but also a vital resource for addressing the challenges of the present.
