Rome, December 23, 2024 – Chabad of Piazza Bologna hosted a significant visit: the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefano De Leo, met with Rabbi Menachem Lazar, head of the local community. The meeting provided an important opportunity for intercultural dialogue and strengthening the ties between Italian Jewish communities and international institutions.
During the visit, Ambassador De Leo was presented with a Chanukkià, a symbol of light and hope, with the invitation to share it with his Israeli counterpart in Nigeria. This gesture highlights the importance of building bridges between diverse cultures, emphasizing the universal principles of harmony and cooperation represented by Chanukkah.
The Ambassador was also given a book about the Rebbe of Lubavitch, spiritual leader and founder of the modern Chabad movement. This gift aims to underline the Rebbe's legacy as a moral guide and source of inspiration while showcasing the educational and cultural impact of his work on a global scale.
Chabad of Piazza Bologna continues to serve as a reference point for initiatives promoting dialogue and mutual respect. Ambassador De Leo's visit aligns with a long-standing tradition of collaboration between Jewish communities and institutional representatives, aimed at celebrating cultural diversity and strengthening international relations.
As Chanukkah approaches, the gift of the Chanukkià takes on special meaning: the light of its candles represents the aspiration for a more inclusive society, one that celebrates differences and finds common ground for shared progress.
